The Village of Orland Park urges drivers to plan ahead in preparation for Metra Rail’s road closing at Wolf Road between Southwest Highway and 175th Street. The Metra project requires the complete shutdown of vehicular traffic from April 19 to April 28 for vehicle crossing renewal.

Wolf Road between 179th and 175th streets will be open to local traffic only.

Drivers traveling southbound on Wolf Road are to detour at Southwest Highway and then go east at 179th Street. Drivers traveling northbound on Wolf Road are to go west onto 179th Street and turn north onto Southwest Highway.

A roadway’s railway at-grade crossing is designed to fulfill its primary purpose of providing a smooth surface for the safe passage of rubber-tired vehicles across the railroad. The procedure involves complete removal of the old crossing panel and track-bed materials. The replacement consists of an asphalt underlayment layer, a pre-compacted ballast layer, a new track panel, and a new crossing surface.
