Mayor McLaughlin’s Senior Coffee to Assist Seniors with Tax Rebate Process
Posted on 11/06/2014

Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin will host a Tax Rebate Senior Coffee on Tuesday, November 18 from 10am to noon at the Orland Park Civic Center.

Area seniors are invited to attend to learn more about the tax rebate process. Village representatives will be available to offer one-on-one assistance in completing and submitting their 2014 Property Tax Rebate Applications.

The presentation will include speakers Mayor Dan McLaughlin and Orland Park Trustee/Chairman of the Finance Committee Carole Ruzich.

“We hope to make the tax rebate application process as smooth as possible for area seniors,” explained Mayor McLaughlin. “We began rebating a portion of the property taxes that residents pay to the village in 2003 and are glad to offer it again this year.”

Attendees who wish to file their applications at the event should bring copies of their 2013 second installment property tax bill, driver’s license and a utility bill. If a Village of Orland Park water bill account number is provided on the paper application, a copy of a recent utility bill is not required.

Trustee Carole Ruzich suggested the village make available in-person assistance for residents who would rather complete and have assistance in submitting their tax rebate application.

“We are glad to offer one-on-one assistance as several residents indicated that they would appreciate that type of help in completing their applications,” stated Ruzich. “The one-on-one assistance will ensure that all residents, with or without access to computers and internet, will have the opportunity receive assistance with the application process.”

Should residents be unable to attend the event or would rather receive assistance at Village Hall, village representatives will be available to answer questions and accept applications during regular business hours as well as the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month 8:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m.

In addition, one-on-one assistance with the completion and submission of applications will be available on the following dates and times:
Wednesday, November 5 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, November 7 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, December 6 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Thursday, December 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Eligible residents may elect to receive their rebate via check, credit to a water bill account, donation to the Open Lands, or direct deposit into a checking or savings account. Direct deposit is a new option this year, offering convenience and expedited receipt of the tax rebate. If direct deposit is chosen as the method of rebate, please be prepared to provide bank name and account information.

The Orland Park Civic Center is located at 14750 South Ravinia Avenue. Admission, parking and refreshments for the senior coffee are free. For more information, call 708/403-6150.
