Northwestern University Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald is returning to the field where he played youth football as an Orland Park Pioneer.

On Saturday, August 1, the Village of Orland Park will host Kids' Day at the Taste of Orland Park, offering an afternoon of free activities and sports demonstrations for children. Fitzgerald and some of the Northwestern University football players will host the Northwestern Athletics booth at Kids' Day, signing autographs and greeting visitors from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

"We're thrilled to have Pat Fitzgerald join us for Kids' Day at the Taste of Orland Park," said Mayor Dan McLaughlin. "The Humphrey Complex is the perfect setting for Coach Fitzgerald to greet the young people of the community because that's where he played youth football as an Orland Park Pioneer," the mayor added.

Kids' Day at the Taste of Orland Park will be held at the John Humphrey Sports Complex, 14700 West (100th) Avenue, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Free activities include crafts, a moon jump, sports demonstrations, Family Water Balloon Toss, Family Egg Drop, Touch A Truck, emergency vehicles and more.

Fitzgerald is returning to his hometown to invite the community to attend Orland Park Day at Northwestern University on September 12 when the Wildcats play Eastern Michigan. All Orland Park residents can purchase end zone tickets at half price, $13.00 each.

"We invite everyone to come to Orland Park Day at the Northwestern football game on September 12," McLaughlin said. "We're hoping for a great turn out to show Orland Park's support for one of our own --- Coach Fitzgerald," the mayor added.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and to receive the Orland Park Day code, attendees must email wildcatmarketing@northwestern.edu. Public safety officials and members of the armed forces are admitted for free as part of the university's Heroes' Day observance.
