The Village of Orland Park will officially welcome the 2011 holiday season with its annual holiday festival on Sunday, November 27, 2011. The festivities begin at 3:00 pm with the arrival of Mayor Dan McLaughlin and Santa at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 South Ravinia Avenue. Activities at the Civic Center take place from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

"We invite everyone to welcome the holiday season to Orland Park," said Mayor Dan McLaughlin. "Parents should bring their cameras so they can capture their children's visits with Santa," the mayor added. Holiday elves will offer face painting and children will be able to make and take holiday crafts.

"It's wonderful that we have so much local talent providing the entertainment for the festival," said Trustee Patricia Gira, chair of the village's Recreation and Parks Committee.

Encore Concert Band will perform from 3 pm to 4 pm. Orland Park Glee will perform from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm, and the Orland Park Junior and Senior Dance Company will perform from 4:15 to 4:30 pm. Carl Sandburg Chamber Singers will perform at 5:00 pm and will sing at the official tree lighting at 5:45 pm. Also on the schedule is John Measner's Magic Show from 4:45 pm to 5:30 pm. Horse-drawn sleigh rides around the village center will be available from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Mayor McLaughlin's Tree Lighting Ceremony will follow at 5:45 pm outside the Frederick T. Owens Village Hall, where Mayor McLaughlin will light the village's community tree decorated with ornaments created by individuals, families, scout groups and organizations from throughout the region. The tree and holiday displays along Ravinia Avenue will simultaneously light, officially marking the start of the holiday season in Orland Park.

Admission to the event is free and the Orland Park Theatre Troupe will sell concessions. For more information, please call (708) 403-6140.
