The Village of Orland Park Theatre Troupe will hold auditions for its holiday show, "A Classic Christmas," October 10 and 11. Actors age six and older are invited to audition from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on either day at Orland Park's Old Village Hall, 14413 South Beacon Avenue.

"We're bringing back one of our holiday favorites," said Orland Park Recreation Program Manager Irene Buikema who oversees the village's theatre troupe. "The village's holiday shows have long been among the community's favorite parts of the season and this year will be no different," Buikema said.

Those auditioning must bring a prepared piece of sheet music and dress in dance attire. A vocal, dance and reading audition will be expected. Once cast, participants must pay a registration fee.

"'A Classic Christmas' calls for a multi-generational cast," said Orland Park Theatre Troupe Producer/Director Frann Carnivele-Sidlow. "We invite everyone, from as young as six on up to seniors, to be a part of this production," she said.

A music and dance revue of Christmas classics, "A Classic Christmas" includes a number of favorites, including "White Christmas," "Holiday Inn," "It's A Wonderful Life," "Miracle On 34th Street" and "A Christmas Carol." The show includes cameos, songs, scenes and dances from a number of holiday favorites.

"In the past, we've had a number of parents and children perform together which makes for great childhood memories," Carnivele-Sidlow said, asking, "Where else can people who enjoy theater perform on stage with their children?"

Rehearsals will be at the Old Village Hall on Sunday afternoons from noon until 4:00 p.m. and Monday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Performances at the Orland Park Civic Center will be December 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and December 11 at 2:00 p.m.
