The Orland Park Theatre Troupe is bringing dinner theater back to the south suburbs.

"We had such a great response to our dinner theater at Orland Chateau two years ago, we decided to offer it again, this time on two days," said Orland Park Recreation Program Supervisor Irene Buikema, executive producer for the village's Orland Park Theatre Troupe.

Orland Park's resident producer/director Frann Carnivele-Sidlow will direct the show that will be performed in a dinner theater setting at the Orland Chateau July 12 and 19.

"Musical dinner theater hasn't been available since the Candlelight Theater closed its doors a number of years ago," Carnivele-Sidlow said. "Our last dinner theater presentation sold out even before we casted the show," she added.

"Back 2 Broadway" marks the third production that Carnivele-Sidlow has written with her sister, LuAnne Pezel as Two Sisters Productions. The pair wrote two previous shows for the village's theatre troupe, "A Classic Christmas" and the 2007 "Broadway Revue."

The 2009 show, called "Back II Broadway," calls for twenty adults, ten men and ten women, as well as eight children between the ages of eight and eighteen. Auditions will be held May 18 and 19 from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Orland Park's Old Village Hall, 14413 South Beacon Avenue.

Those auditioning must bring a prepared piece of sheet music and sing sixteen measures from the song. Auditioners should wear dance attire and be prepared to learn and perform a dance for the audition. Once cast, participants must pay a $35.00 registration fee.

"Back II Broadway is a continuation of our show from two years ago with the cast performing songs from everyone's favorite Broadway shows," Carnivele-Sidlow said.

"The response to our first dinner theater show was wonderful," Buikema noted, adding, "It was a great afternoon with dinner and live theater, available locally. Those who saw the show really enjoyed it."

Rehearsals will be held May 24 through July 16 on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Tickets for "Back 2 Broadway" are currently available at the Franklin Loebe Recreation Center, 14650 South Ravinia Avenue. The cost is $40.00 per person and includes a main entrée, soup and salad, beverage and dessert with a cash bar.
