The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that 143rd Street between West Avenue and LaGrange Road will be closed from July 23, 2012 until August 20, 2012. The closures are required to relocate the existing railroad tracks for the Metra Southwest Service Line.

Beginning at 5 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012, 143rd Street will be closed between West Avenue and LaGrange Road. The road closure is tentatively scheduled to last until August 20, 2012.

A detour route (link below) will be in place for the duration of the construction. Drivers will be detoured utilizing West Avenue, 151st Street and LaGrange Road.

All businesses and side streets between West Avenue and LaGrange Road will remain accessible while 143rd Street is closed. Southwest Highway will also be available from eastbound 143rd Street.

Metra parking for eastbound traffic is available in the Southwest Highway lot north of 143rd Street. Westbound 143rd Street traffic may access Metra parking from 142nd Street at LaGrange Road.

Motorists should anticipate delays and allow extra travel time for trips through this area. Please obey the speed limit, observe closure signs and remain alert for workers.
