Orland Park Community Groups Invited to Decorate Centennial Park Trees
Posted on 12/01/2016

Show your holiday spirit and creativity at the Village of Orland Park Recreation Department's third annual Community Tree Trim on Sunday, Dec. 11.
The village invites local scouts, youth, school or other community groups to adopt a tree and decorate it in Centennial Park at the Winter Wonderland Ice Rink, 15600 West Avenue at Fun Drive.

This Orland Park favorite winter-time event begins at noon, with Santa making an appearance at 2 p.m. The day includes music, hot chocolate and cookies. The event is free and open to all. Trees are limited, with eight trees left to be adopted, so reserve your group's tree today.

All handmade ornaments will be displayed on the village's 11 trees in Centennial Park, as the large tree outside Village Hall will now display the village's new holiday lights.

Decorations and ornaments should be homemade and able to withstand winter weather. Ornaments should be painted, varnished, shellacked or laminated, and water-soluble glue is not recommended. Please hang ornaments with string or yarn. Suggested materials include Popsicle sticks, laminated paper, Styrofoam balls, plastic needlepoint clothespins, yarn, soda cans, beads, plastic containers, foil-wrapped objects, and plastic milk bottles.

Groups are to avoid using food, sharp objects, tinsel, straw, glass or anything valuable on their ornaments. Click for registration form and complete list of ornament suggestions.

If a group wishes to keep their ornaments after the holidays, they may remove them starting January 1 through January 7, 2017.
