Village of Orland Park Sportsplex Keeps Families Moving and Fit in the New Year

The Village of Orland Park Sportsplex brings fitness and fun together to keep everyone moving this winter season. Classes begin as soon as Monday, January 9. All classes are at the Orland Park Sportsplex, located at 11351 W. 159th Street. Participants can register in person at the Recreation Administration Office, 14600 Ravinia Ave. or at the Sportsplex, 11351 W. 159th Street. For questions call (708) 403-7275 or (708) 645-7529. Guests ages 16 and up can sign up for Commit to Fit, a new, 12-week body transformation contest. Participants will learn to eat and train properly, while working with an instructor to transform their body. "The instructor will set up a workout plan and take participants through the workouts," said Deborah Geghen-Graham, fitness manager at the Sportsplex. "Whoever loses the most percentage of body weight will win a prize."
Commit to Fit runs Monday, January 9 - Saturday, April 1. Classes are Mondays from 6-6:55 a.m. and Saturdays from 10-10:55 a.m.
Cost is $160 for residents; $200 for non-residents; $150 for Sportsplex members.

Join the dance party that tones the body and helps stretching with Booty Barre. Booty Barre is open to participants ages 14 and up and allows each person to create their own intensity and pace.
"Barre fitness is a combination of ballet, Pilates and toning exercises done at the ballet barre. It incorporates exercises to tone the belly, booty, hips and thighs," said Geghen-Graham.
Booty Barre runs Wednesdays, January 11 - March 1 from 7-7:55 p.m. or on Fridays, January 13-March 3 from 9-9:55 a.m. A second round of classes runs March 8-May 3 and March 10-May 5.
Cost is $73 for residents; $110 for non-residents; $68 for members.

Stretch further and hold challenging poses longer with Fly Yoga. Participants ages 14 and up can gain strength, flexibility and focus while using a flowing fabric yoga hammock.
"No yoga experience is necessary. You will learn the yoga poses throughout the class," said Geghen-Graham. "This class will help those who are less flexible get in the poses and those that can do the poses get further in each of them."
Fly Yoga is available on Wednesdays, January 11-February 15 from 8-8:55 p.m. and Saturdays, January 14-Februrary 18 from 10-10:50 a.m. A second and third session will run into April and May. Cost is $90 for residents; $135 for non-residents; $85 for members.

Celebrate a birthday or get the girls together just because with Fly Yoga parties. Open to groups of up to seven, Fly Yoga parties offer a fun and unique way to stay fit. Gain strength and flexibility during the one hour and 15 minute class. Parties include an additional 45 minute private party space. Guests can bring in food; alcohol is not allowed. Aerial Play Yoga Workshops are the perfect way to experience Aerial Yoga before signing up for the class. Come out and get comfortable in the silk yoga hammocks while getting in a great stretching workout. Sign up soon, as there are only seven spots open per workshop. Workshops will be from 9-10:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 15; Sunday, February 12; and Sunday, March 12. Cost is $20 for residents; $35 for non-residents; $15 for members.
