Veterans Tribute Returns to Taste of Orland Park
Orland Park, IL (July 26, 2019)
- Local veterans will be honored at the 16th
Annual Taste of Orland Park on Sunday, August 4 on the main stage.
Beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, the American Veterans Motorcycle Riders
Association from Tinley Park will kick off the opening ceremony with an honor
ride at the main stage. Color guards representing the American Legion Post
111 of Orland Park, the Orland/Palos VFW Post 2604, and Veterans Voices will

A welcome will be offered by Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau, a veteran
himself having served in the United States Air Force. “We are pleased to host
an event in honor of our nation’s veterans, recognizing those who served for
their service and sacrifice,” said Pekau. “I look forward to seeing our local
veterans, their families and the community as we come together to show our
appreciation.
”
A non-denominational field service will be held at 11:20 a.m. The field service
is sponsored by the Orland Park Veteran Voices Military Group. The Veterans
Voices chaplain will honor veterans who have passed, are ill or in need of
support. Area residents are encouraged to submit names of veterans to be
recognized and mentioned at the service. Contact Darryl Wertheim of the
Village of Orland Park Veterans Commission at 708/403-6115 or email

Following the field service, a 20-piece brass musical group, Sine Wave, will
present a patriotic musical tribute. All veterans in attendance will receive a
welcome home and a special flag star thanking them for their service.
Fortunate Sons, a Creedance Clearwater revival band, will perform on the
main stage from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. and close out the veteran tribute portion of
the Taste of Orland Park.
