Village of Orland Park Memorial Day Ceremony to be Broadcast Live

Public Invited to Participate Virtually via YouTube

Orland Park, IL (May 13, 2020) – The Orland Park community is invited to join the Village in remembrance of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice serving our country. Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, and in order to ensure social distancing is practiced, the public is invited to attend the ceremony virtually.

 

The names of the eight veterans that have been recently added to the Village’s granite wall will be read aloud during the ceremony.

 

The live broadcast of the Village of Orland Park’s Memorial Day ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 25. Those interested in virtual participation can view the program on Village’s YouTube channel at YouTube.com/user/villageoforlandpark. Those who are subscribed to the Village YouTube channel will be automatically notified of the live broadcast. A recording will be posted on the Village’s social media accounts, cable access channel (Comcast channel 4 and AT&T U-Verse channel 99) and YouTube channel after the live viewing.

 

The itinerary is as follows:

 

  • Welcome address will be offered by Dale Carver, U.S. Army Retired Lt. Colonel and Chairman of the Orland Park Veterans Commission
  • American flag raising by Mohanned El Natour, U.S. Army Reserves and Member of the Orland Park Veterans Commission
  • Pledge of Allegiance
  • A Blessing will be offered by Reverend Don Borling, Pastor, All Saints Lutheran Church
  • Wreath laying by Jim Thompson, U.S. Army Veteran and Member of the Orland Park Veterans Commission
  • Memorial Day Reflections/Reading of Newly Engraved Names by Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau, U.S. Air Force Veteran
