Kevin Hertz Memorial Playground

playgroundNewly Renovated Accessible Playground

Orland Park's first accessible playground, originally built in 1992 and designed for children of all abilities, received a full renovation in 2012.

The Kevin Hertz Memorial Playground at Centennial Park was re-dedicated in memory of the Orland Park resident who was born with spina bifida 20 years after the park's debut.  A regular visitor at Centennial Park where his brother and sister played baseball and softball, Kevin enjoyed the park and being outdoors.  Kevin died in 1990 at age 11 following complications related to surgery, but his family and many friends helped build this important accessible playground in his memory.

This baseball themed playground includes two play units that are almost entirely handicapped accessible. It features a poured play surface, which is wheelchair friendly and many activity pads for curious kids.

The playground is adjacent to the busy ballfields at Centennial Park providing the perfect entertainment for ballplayer's siblings.  Take me out the ball game ~ and stay for the swings, playground and more!
