Bullying Stops Here

heading-all.gif

Welcome!

Without question, bullying is a serious problem in our schools and communities. Often dismissed as an adolescent "rite of passage," research shows that bullying is a learned behavior that is detrimental to an individual's academic, physical, social and emotional development. Bullying affects not only the individuals being targeted, but also the bullies, bystanders, parents and the community overall.

Approximately, one in three students are bullied on a regular basis. Despite volumes of research, "anti-bullying" campaigns and increased scrutiny by the media, bullying continues to pervade our schools, community and culture.

In Orland Park, we want to work together as a community to put an end to bullying - both physically and online through cyberbullying.

To that end, the Village of Orland Park, the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Campaign to End Bullying,  and The Bridge Teen Center have come together to address the prevalence and dangers of bullying, and to send this message to our young people: Bullying Stops Here. We have joined together to support our youth in spreading the word that bullying is not okay and it is not okay to stand by and watch another be bullied. For those who are being bullied, this site serves as a reminder that you are not alone.

We hope this site will be a good starting point to shed light on, and, hopefully, eradicate bullying in Orland Park and throughout our region.

Sincerely yours,
