Orland Park has made it to the final four of the BATTLE OF THE BURBS 2015 sponsored by WTMX 101.9 FM.

Chicago area suburbs were named to the competition and are encouraged to get people to text or visit the radio station’s website to vote for their favorite municipalities.

“We’ve had a lot of fun with this and people have been helping to get the word out on social media,” said Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin. “It’s a nice way to show your community pride and vote for your favorite town,” he said.

Orland Park defeated DuPage County’s Winfield, Illinois in the first round, garnering 88% of the vote and then eliminated Crown Point, Indiana on April 1 with 57% of the vote. Orland Park now faces Brookfield, Illinois on Friday, April 3.

“People can help get the word out by sharing the information on their social media sites, letting everyone know that it’s getting down to the wire and we need their help,” the mayor said.

On Friday, April 3, voting is open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. with people invited to vote as many times as possible by texting “Orland Park” to the number 60123 or by voting for Orland Park on the radio station’s website at http://www.wtmx.com/ek.php.

“If we advance on April 3, we’ll face Oak Forest in the final round,” McLaughlin said. “Oak Forest beat Mount Prospect Thursday morning, getting 23,000 of the 42,000 votes cast,” the mayor said, adding, “We’re asking everyone to vote for Orland Park on April 3.”
