The Village of Orland Park will kick-off the holiday season by hosting the 2009 Winter Festival on Sunday, November 29, 2009.

The festivities begin at 3 pm with the arrival of Mayor Dan McLaughlin and Santa at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 South Ravinia Avenue. Activities at the Civic Center take place from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. The Mayor's Tree Lighting Ceremony will follow at 5:45 pm outside the Frederick T. Owens Village Hall, where Mayor McLaughlin will light the village tree and holiday displays along Ravinia Avenue, officially marking the start of the holiday season in the Village of Orland Park.

The entire community is invited to join Mayor McLaughlin and the Village Board of Trustees as the village celebrates the start of the holiday season in Orland Park. Be sure to bring your camera to capture a visit with Santa. Holiday elves will be face painting and children can make and take a holiday craft.

Encore Concert Band, Victorian Christmas Carolers and Carl Sandburg High School Chamber Singers will provide continuous musical entertainment throughout the afternoon. The Orland Park Junior High and Senior Dance Company will perform from 4:15 to 4:30 pm. Rick Kelly will present his holiday, interactive one-man band show from 4:45 pm to 5:30 pm. Horse-drawn sleigh rides around the village center will be available from 3 pm to 6 pm.
